The Oakville Choral Society has been part of the Oakville community since 1960, and this past season we celebrated our 50th anniversary. The OCS is a non-profit cultural organization whose aim is the promotion of choral singing and music appreciation in the community. The chorus is a non-audition chorus, so everyone in the community is invited to come out and sing with us. To join us, go to the “join our chorus” page.
The choir is directed by David Bowser, who has a wealth of talent and experience. The Choir has performed to audiences spanning generations. The choir has a large repertoire of the world's best and most loved music including pieces from the masters of classical to modern day show-tunes and pops. The 80 plus member strong group possesses a true passion for singing and performing as well as maintains a strong community interaction by which they do service to their area culturally. We are always looking for new members, in particular, tenor and bass singers.
Our accompanist is Anne Marie Leonard, a professional pianist and organist who has performed regularly in Toronto and the United States. She is also the Music Director of Music Ministry at St. Thomas A Becket Anglican Church as well as being a musical theatre director, coach and accompanist for several singers and instrumentalists in the area. She enjoys a diverse and very rewarding musical career.
Performances are held in December and May. The choir is often joined by professional soloists and a chamber orchestra. Please see our “Concerts” page for details of our exciting 2012/2013 season.
Rehearsals are held at St. Aidan's Church on Queen Mary Drive in Oakville. There is an annual fee of $250.00 ($125 per season) to join but all the music is loaned to you from our library.
