Vocal Apprentice Program – CLOSED
If you are a post-secondary student interested in singing with a dynamic community choir, apply to take part in Oakville Choral’s “Vocal Apprentice” program!
Selected singers will:
- Participate in weekly rehearsals with Oakville Choral on Tuesday evenings beginning September 10, 2024
- Learn vocal/choral singing techniques and perform diverse choral repertoire
- Receive mentorship from OC’s Music Director Kai Leung, including one voice lesson per term
- Sing with professional musicians
- Participate in workshop opportunities with professional choral composers
- Completion certificate provided at end of term
There is no fee to participate in this program.

If you love to sing and enjoy helping others, join us this Fall! As a section lead, you will provide vocal leadership, mark solos at our rehearsals, and sing the sectional part at rehearsals and concerts. Tuesdays from 7:30-9pm at Chartwell Church in Oakville. $90 per call, plus applicable HST.

Meet Music Director/Conductor: Kai Leung
June 13, 2024 – We are thrilled to announce that Kai Leung will be the next Music Director and Conductor of Oakville Choral. Kai brings to OC a wealth of musical experiences and a deep passion for choral singing. Kai succeeds David Bowser, who has successfully served as OC’s Music Director/Conductor for the past 15 years. OC wishes David all the best as he continues to pursue his wide array of artistic interests. OC looks forward to Kai continuing with this outstanding leadership and creative programming. “Throughout my diverse conducting career, I have always been able to create an atmosphere where communal learning is enjoyable and deeply satisfying, and am excited by the opportunity to grow alongside a new group of singing colleagues,” said Kai Leung. “I am a passionate conductor, educator, composer, and choral musician. I am always searching for opportunities to build, strengthen, and learn from communities of diverse people.”

OC announces Artistic Director’s Departure
March 14, 2024 – Artistic Director David Bowser will be leaving upon the completion of this season, marking 15 years with OC. “David has provided tremendous creativity, musicality, and professionalism as the artistic leader of the Oakville Choral,” says Board President Sandra Litt . “We wish David all the best in his future endeavours. A new Artistic Director will build on the reputation David and our choir have achieved.” Bowser has seen the organization through many changes, including continuing to keep us viable during and after Covid19. His commitment to artistic excellence and building relationships in the community has been evident over the years. He has overseen many successful collaborations with local organizations and artists, and offered us a wide variety of musical experiences. The OC Board of Directors has initiated the process to hire a new Artistic Director/ Conductor beginning in the 2024-25 season.
